New Year Reflections!

As the clock ticks closer to midnight, it feels natural to reflect on the year that’s just passed and look ahead to the one waiting on the horizon. Truth be told, I’ve never been a big fan of New Year’s Eve. For me, New Year’s Eve has always been a mix of celebration and introspection, even if it’s not a night I particularly enjoy, and this year is no exception. The difference this time is that 2024 hasn’t just been a year, it’s been a journey of transformation, growth, and love.

2024 started as a year of uncertainty and change. I was navigating the complexities of my transition, learning to find comfort in my own skin, and discovering the person I’ve always been. There were moments of doubt, anxiety, and pain, but through it all, there was also the unmistakable light of hope; a light that only grew brighter as the months unfolded.

One of the most beautiful aspects of this year has been my partner, Jess. Her presence in my life has been nothing short of transformative. Together, we’ve shared laughter, adventures, and quiet moments that speak volumes. From exploring waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons to the everyday joy of simply being together, Jess has been my rock and my reason to smile. And as 2024 draws to a close, I’m overjoyed to share that we’re engaged. It still feels surreal to say it out loud, but the truth is, I’ve never been surer of anything in my life.

Our engagement feels like the perfect culmination of a year that’s been about finding myself and embracing love in all its forms. It’s a promise, a commitment of a future together, a future filled with more adventures, more challenges, and more moments to cherish. And as I look ahead to 2025, I can’t help but feel excited about the possibilities. There’s something magical about starting a new chapter with someone who sees you, supports you, and loves you for who you truly are.

Of course, the new year isn’t just about personal milestones. It’s also a chance to reconnect and hope for deeper bonds. For me, I would love nothing more than to see my other children and begin to draw to a close the chapters of my past life, creating space for the future. It’s also an opportunity to continue the work of becoming; to set new goals, embrace new challenges, and keep growing as a person. For me, that means continuing to advocate for awareness and acceptance, sharing my journey with others, and finding ways to make a difference in the lives of those around me.

As we count down to 2025, I’m reminded that every ending is also a beginning. The year ahead holds so much promise, not just for me and Jess, but for anyone who dares to dream, to hope, and to believe in the beauty of new beginnings. So here’s to 2024, a year that brought growth, love, and transformation. And here’s to 2025, a year that will undoubtedly bring even more.
